In this book, while some people apparently believe in ghosts (the Carvers definitely do not), there are no actual ghosts. Some people do not like books that contain any mention of ghosts. Jamie and Lorna help solve the mystery and make some new friends in the process. The aim is either getting rid of the ghost or finding out that there is no ghost. Giddings thinks that there is a ghost there.
